James F. Fleck is a full professor of clinical oncology with 35 years of experience in cancer patient’s care. A graduate from the School of Medicine of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, he completed his professional training both in Brazil and the United States of America, including medical residency, fellowship in clinical oncology and PhD. Driven by a charismatic leadership, he brings accumulated experience in public and private health systems, advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment, clinical trial methodology and IT applied to health care. During his academic career, he participated in the training of 3,500 medical students at the graduate and postgraduate levels, educated and trained 105 clinical oncology fellows, gave 1,000 lectures, wrote six books and published 500 articles/editorials.

• Development and implementation of a virtual tumor board combining 20 cancer subspecialties toward a cooperative and integrative vision, supporting decision-making by physicians working outside of comprehensive cancer centers.
• Development and implementation of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on the molecular, clinical, and social cancer signature, using a new andragogical approach composed of three innovative interventions called Fast Knowledge Tracking, Clinical Simulation System, and Knowledge Translation Network, reaching a satisfaction rate of 98.5%.
• Member of the clinical oncology advisor board of the Regional Council of Medicine for 6 years in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
• Co-founder of a statewide Institute for Childhood Cancer, providing state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment to all children and families in need.
• Development and implementation of a Clinical Simulation System for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, promoting the role of the patient as a protagonist and the doctor as a supporting actor.
• Inspired a 13-episode TV series (Educative TV / State of Rio Grande do Sul), emphasizing the importance of the doctor-patient relationship in the emotional support and cognitive approach as part of the integrative care of cancer patients.
